Bird Dog Theatre, 5102 50th Street, Hardisty, Alberta T0B 1V0

Duane Steele is among Canada’s top country recording artists and songwriters with a professional career dating back to 1984. Born and raised in the small Alberta Peace Country town of Hines Creek, music was a big part of Duane’s life growing up.

In 1984 Duane’s professional career began, fronting the band Rock ‘N’ Horse. Their album, Highways, was released in 1991. Despite top 20 singles, non stop touring, and a Juno nomination for Country Band of the Year Rock ‘N’ Horse disbanded in 1993. Duane took this opportunity to pursue his goals as a recording artist and songwriter, landing a publishing contract with Warner Chapel in Nashville.

In 1995 a showcase at Canadian Country Music Week in Calgary resulted in his signing a recording contract with Mercury Canada. Duane’s solo debut album “PO Box 423” was released in February 1996 and saw his first three singles go Top 5 on the Canadian Country Charts, including the #1 Hit “Anita Got Married”. His sophomore release “This Is The Life” was released a year and a half later and furthered his presence on the Canadian music charts with all six singles released achieving Top 30 chart position (two becoming Top 10 hits). In support of both albums Duane released seven music videos on CMT (three of which went to #1).

Touring and promoting became a way of life for Duane once again. He was on the road traveling with his CCMA award winning band opening for some of the hottest acts in country music including Shania Twain, Terri Clark, Trisha Yearwood, Sammy Kershaw, and Prairie Oyster. In 1997 Duane was the winner of the CCMA for Vocal Collaboration of the Year with Lisa Brokop for the single “Two Names On An Overpass”.

His third solo album “I’ll Be Alright” was released in August 2000 with seven singles released to radio and three videos released to CMT. In 2001 Duane was rewarded for his first independently released album by winning the Independent Male Vocalist of the Year Award by the CCMA.

2004 saw the release of “Set List”. A best of album including 17 radio singles from his three previous solo albums and three new songs that were released to radio. A video for the song “Better Man” was filmed in Calgary for CMT.

Other Albums Duane has released include ” Ghost Town” 2006, ” Gas And Time” 2010, “Dirt And Dreams” 2015 , “Remembering Jones” (A Tribute ) 2017 , “Bonfires And Guitars” 2021.

Duane released a new single called ” The Road ” in August of 2022 and is currently working on his 10 album of new songs.

Duane’s pure voice and natural stage presence makes his live shows a must see. When he is not touring or working on his own projects he is often writing with other artists. Production has been a natural progression and he looks forward to working in this area while continuing his own solo career.

THIS IS WHY WE ARE THRILLED TO HAVE TIM HUS COMING TO PERFORM FOR YOU ALL! For the past decade Hus and his Travelin' Band have toured to every corner of the land and beyond performing their distinctive brand of Canadiana cowboy music. “Tim Hus may well be the ultimate in Canadiana songwriters" -Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine

“It seems that Tim Hus is the new lion of country music. One of the best country albums I’ve ever heard. No lie.” -FAME Review

The Black Feathers (from the UK)

The Black Feathers (from the UK)

Friday, October 9 @ 7:30PMFri, Oct 9 @ 7:30PM

Bird Dog Theatre, 5102 50 Street, Hardisty, AB T0B 1V0

The ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations.

The Black Feathers, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, are two such talents. They first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012.

“Once in a blue moon, the whole soars far above the sum of its parts. That’s what happens when The Black Feathers perform live” - Black Mountain News, North Carolina

Americana, Folk, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Their music quickly draw the interest of listeners, but it is the stage chemistry that will keep them riveted.

Having already built up a loyal following in the UK, The Black Feathers have been spreading their wings across the US. They have performed at Philadelphia Folk Festival, Kate Wolf Music Festival, and AmericanaFest, and have also been awarded official showcases at the International, North East Regional and Far-West Folk Alliance conferences.

Suzanne and I have always loved the music and spirit in Newfoundland! Since our dear friends, Bob and Jan Preece moved into Hardisty in March and Jan is originally from Newfoundland, we thought, what could be a better welcoming gift for the two of them than to have a wee kitchen party with the amazing, "KitchinParti" band, straight from the rock...The sing together like family and their songs are steeped in the Newfoundland tradition that we love! I think the only time these three are not smiling or laughing is when they're asleep:) THIS ONE WILL BE FUN!!!

Sunday, December 20 @ 2:00PMSun, Dec 20 @ 2:00PM

Bird Dog Theatre, 5102 50th Street, Hardisty, Alberta T0B 1V0

We have been gathering some great old, and some beautiful new, Christmas tunes and stories over the past few years or so. Most of them reflect a western way of life at Christmas Time... We'll be joined by some of our friends in the band, and maybe one or two others... All we know at this point, is that you'll be full of the Christmas Spirit "western style" when you leave... and it's a good thing as it will be only four more days until Christmas Eve, when you do walk out of the theatre!!!

The Wardens stories and mountain music rise from the very land they’ve protected as Canadian national park wardens collectively for over 50 years.

The band have performed widely across western Canada and in the US from Alaska to California. They've shared the stage with Blue Rodeo, Pharis & Jason Romero and Ian Tyson and performed at Folk Alliance International, Canmore Folk Festival's main stage and for a royal audience in Edmonton, Alberta.
